Stationery Favorites

I've always been a fan of beautiful, well-made paper products.

Okay, let's call it what it is: I'm obsessed with personalized stationery and nice invitations.

In our home office, I keep this wooden organizer filled with some of my favorites:

And don't think it ends there.  I also have this large plastic tub that is filled with even more stationery goodness.

I know what you are thinking -- hoarder!  And maaaaybe you're right.  But it's better than hoarding cats or old yellowed newspapers, yes?

To me, there are three traits that I always look for when purchasing my paper products:

{Paper Quality and Heft}
Flimsy paper, be gone!  I have no room for you.  The thicker the cardstock, the nicer it appears.  You don't always have to spend a lot of money to get quality paper -- it just takes a little searching.

Anytime I have a choice, I opt for personalization.  Whether it's a monogram, a name, even just a surname initial -- it takes your stationery to the next level and shows that it is customized for you.

{Unique Design}
We've all seen the same designs over and over, and while they may be pretty, they might also be forgettable.  I always look for a design, a color combination, or a paper size that is a little off the beaten path.  The recipient will get a little more joy in seeing something they've never seen before.

What about you, what traits do you look for in stationery and invitations?
Do you have any favorite sources for purchasing yours?

  1. LOVE LOVE LOVE. I'm a HUGE paper products fan. I'm really quite excited to get a whole new set with my new last name this fall / winter :)

  2. During our wedding planning, my Mom heard someone say, "if you can throw the invitation across the room (rather than it just floating to the ground), THAT'S the wedding you should definitely attend."

    Needless to say we had Crane's 220 lb. cardstock.

  3. I need a collection like that! LOVE!

  4. You have an awesome collection! I'm pretty obsessed with stationary as well

  5. Yes! I LOVE stationery. I have so much of it, maybe I am a hoarder, too - but I don't care. And now I really want an organizing box for all of it like you have :)

  6. Okay, this makes me feel so much better! We live in an apartment, and I'm ashamed that I have an entire desk drawer devoted to stationary. I love to mail cards to people, and I think it's such a nice way to keep in touch!

  7. This is great -- I need to be so much better about my collection of stationary/gift wrap so I am not scrambling to Target last min. Happy weekend! XO

  8. I could spend hours and hours at Paper Source! And I am just like Steel Magnolia's mom, heavy card stock is the best!!!

  9. I love writing letters so I am so with you! Heavy card stock just holds a pen ink that much better. The quality shows! I love your little display box for your stationery. You are definitely not a hoarder! At least this is stuff that will be used :)

  10. I am in desperate need of stationery! I like your wooden holder.

  11. I am exactly the same way. There's definitely a shelf in my closet and several boxes filled with stationery, gift wrap, tissue paper, etc in my apartment!

  12. My goodness, with all that stationary you must write so many notes! Isn't it nice to see a pretty note in the mail on a regular does brighten the spirits. I especially love getting thank you notes for gifts I've sent, that were unexpected. It makes me feel appreciated and happy that I chose to give that person something to brighten their day.

    warmly, Kathleen

  13. Oh I LOVE a handwritten note! I even had my one year old participate in the 'signing' of her thank you cards. I have 14 nieces and nephews so my unique and cute birthday cards come from Trader Joe's. Great way not to break the bank!!

  14. I don't think you are a hoarder! I was just thinking how organized your collection looks!
